No information |
Winds blowing from the West are dead onshore here. You can safely ride this spot in any wind direction that doesn't involve winds from the east. Take some time to get acquainted with this spot. If the winds are out of the North or NW, be cautious about riding beyond the rock jetty at the tip of the park. If you are beyond that tip and crash or lose your kite, there is no place for you or it to go but on out into the bay.

Access
|
Short walk |
From Tampa, I-275 South to Westshore Blvd. Heading South on Westshore Blvd continue across Gandy Blvd down into Port Tampa. Stay right when Westshore forks at Port Tampa. By now you should be seeing signs to the park. Follow the signs thru the next 2 turns to the parks entrance. The first thing you will see in the park will be a fishing dock. Continue past that to the sailboat launch area on the right.
Extra information
A lot of riders prefer to park in the parking lot of the swimming access area and launch from the beach, but beware, you are not allowed to setup, launch or ride from inside the buoyed swimming area. Respect the lifeguards wishes in an effort to preserve access at this park. Stay away from the airport further south.
