One of Durbans only locations that you have the best of both worlds: flat water on one side and waves on the other. The location is about 20 min north from the city center. This is generally a beginners area, space is limited.

The beach is a nice soft sandy beach with loads of space to rig, launch and land kites. There is also a grass area that most people use to inflate and deflate kites. This also makes it a nice view point for all spectators.

The water is extremely warm in summer, no wetsuits required. In winter the water can get a bit colder and a short wetsuit is required. The lagoon can be kited the whole way through the year.

Follow the M4 north out of the cbd, pass Umhlanga, pass Umdloti, as you go over the bridge and you will see the lagoon to the right of you. Take the turn left just as you go over the bridge, follow the road around and you will see the entrance to the lagoon.
