Northerly swells bring in good chop to the mouth of Tomales Bay. The beach launch can have a nasty break to it. Playground for those who like their waves. Sharky water.

This is one of the few private beaches left on the California coast. Good open stretch for launch.

You can expect temps from the 50's-70's°F in summer. Area holds the fog, so you can have fog throughout the summer. Definite need for 3-2 mm or 4-3 mm wetsuit.

Scenic route: take highway 1 north from San Francisco about 40 miles, until the town of Tomales. Take a left onto Dillon Beach Rd. Go 4 miles along Dillon Beach Road and park in the lot at the bottom of the hill. Direct route: HWY 101 North to Bodega Rd. Follow until it becomes Tomales-Petaluma Rd. Follow to Highway 1, right on Highway 1 (North) into Tomales, then left on Dillon Beach road. 4 miles along Dillon Beach Rd and park in lot at the bottom of the hill. Parking costs $5, large parking lot.

Sleeply little vacation spot. Coffee shop and big camping area along the point. Beyond that not much.
