Usually the wind comes from the south or southwest. Although rare, the northeast wind is the cleanest air, coming from the open water. Either way, it seems unusually steady here for an inland lake, and is usually ridable from 12 knots up. Note: avoid going too far south on the beach in southerly winds, as the dam tends to chop up the wind a bit making it hard to get going. Summer winds are usually light but there are some ridable days. By far the best is spring and fall.

Extra information
Please don't ride in the swim areas, launch and land to the north or south end of the beach, away from all people. Get out and away from the beach as fast as possible. Watch out for boats. In winds of a southerly direction, there is a beach to the north and across the open water. It is suitable for coming to shore in the event you get blown too far downwind. Please, however, do not use the as a launch and only for emergency landing. Common sense will allow us to continue riding here.
