The ocean side has small to medium waves. Waves breaker in the water about 400 ft from shore, but only at a certain area. Further left there is an access to a lagoon with perfectly flat water in SE, S, SE, E to NE winds.

From New Orleans take the 90 to the southwest. Then take 1 south to Golden Meadow and Port Fourchon. About 2 hrs drive from New Orleans. Park in the parking lot and go to the beach in front. To access the lagoon you need to walk for about a quarter mile eastwards.
Extra information
Don't drive on the beach with your car. Since 2014, landward access to this beach is prohibited by the owners and not possible anymore. Pilings and warning signs are installed.
