It's an inland lake, so no tide at all. It's fairly flat, but when the wind has been blowing hard for a couple of hours, some small chop appears. The water is almost everywhere fairly shallow, waist till neck deep. But across the lake there's a old canal, so it is deep there.

No sand beach here. Just a narrow lane of grass. There is room to comfortably lay out 1 kite but with some good will a couple of kiters can share the spot. Entries/Exits: I recommend to go kiting at the local kiteboarding club called 'Backside' the club was formerly known as 'de Kreekrakkers'. They have a private part of the lake, and you can launch there.

The weather is typical Dutch, that is cold from mid Oct-May and really not that fun to kite (air: 6-12°C, water: 8°C). In summer May to August, it can be nice, but you still need a wetsuit almost all the time (air: 16-25°C, water: 14-19°C). For a local wind update: Weatherstation De Binnenschelde.

The spot lays at the base of a dyke, so it's mostly gusty, shifty winds, until you've sailed away from shore. Winds between 10-25 knots. Mostly Southwest till Northwest.

Access
|
Short walk |
From the highway that comes along Bergen op Zoom (see map of the Netherlands), go from the highway at the signs 'Bergen op Zoom - Noord', you will then come on the northern ring of Bergen op Zoom, follow this road till the roundabout and go right there. Next road crossing left, and at the Total tank station right.
Extra information
As far as I know there aren't very specific rules. You must know however that you are on property of the kiteclub, so I suggest if you use it very often, become a member, and otherwise give them some respect.
