Generally calm and shallow, large bay. Can get moderate chop if strong southerly wind. Lots of oysters, so avoid cutting up your feet.

Beach

Type:
Sand
Size:
Small
Hazards:
Trees
Beach Users:
None

Narrow white sand beach, sparsely wooded with pines. Plenty of room to layout and launch though.

Wind

Best Months:
January, February, March, April, November, December
Wind Type:
Frontal
Best Direction:
SSE, S
Main Direction:
SE, NW

Winter winds are frontal in nature, SE switching to NW as fronts come through. Cleanest wind here is a straight S or SSE, which has blown across 7 miles of the bay. The prime reason to come here is this is one of the few beaches in this area where the shoreline is not straight East-West. The coast here is NNW-SSE. If the wind is nearly straight North or straight South, this is one of the few sideonshore, sideoffshore coastline areas.
