Water conditions are changeable but most the time it's choppy or flat. Depending on the swell Tenby rarely gets big surf.

The beach has golden sand and is 2 miles long, there is a cliff at the north and south end of the beach, sand dunes run about half way up the beach with a cliff face running along the other half. Kite flyers and kitesurfers need to walk 200m down the beach, past the octopus marker post to set up, and stay past it when on the water.

The weather changes during the year. In the summer months a thin wetsuit of 3mm is fine, but from October to May a 4/3 or even a 5/4 winter wetsuit will be needed.

The wind depends on weather fronts coming through, the best directions are SW, S and SE. Usually about 4-6 Bft. Often gets a thermal Southeasterly with 4-5 Bft late afternoon mid summer.

From the end of the M4 take the A40 all the way to St. Clears. From here take the A477 and follow the signs to Tenby. Once in Tenby follow the brown tourist signs to Tenby South Beach. Parking is available all year round, but there is a small charge during the summer months.

Kite flyers and kitesurfers need to walk 200m down the beach, past the octopus marker post to set up, and stay past it when on the water. In West winds you can ride over to Caldey Island to find some nice waves.

Nightlife

Great selection of pubs in the area catering for everyone. Main pubs can be found in the town center. Main nights are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday most pubs have a late license and are open til 12:30. From Tenby you can go to 1 of 2 night clubs, Jammos which on the outer edge of Tenby and costs about £7 by taxi, or the Sands which is in nearby Saundersfoot and also costs about £7 by taxi. Entrance charge is anything from £1 to £7 on special promo nights. Both clubs at 2 with taxis available at throw out time.
