The stronger the winds the higher the waves. The waves can get high, so be careful. You can kite to the mangroves to the Southwest (3/4 mile, Bahia Ballena) there is shallow supper flat water. If you get stuck there (down wind) the beach walk back is sand the whole way.

Short walk |
From San Juan take the 52 to the South coast and drive further west to Ponce. Then take the 2 and later 116 south to Guanica. In Guanica take the 333 along the coast until you get to Tamarindo Beach.
