Flat and choppy water. Waves up to 1.5m can form with stronger winds. Shallow for about 200m. Tidal beach. Some wave breakers which are under the surface on high tide. Works only in 2 hours before and after high tide. Can be very shallow and is dry for a very long way at low tide.

A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold.

Medium walk

From Bremen take A27 and exit on signs to Cuxhaven. Drive into Cuxhaven and just after the city sign turn left on the lights and follow signs to Duhnen. Drive towards the beach, get into the round-about and take the first exit to the right. Find a parking and walk over the dyke to the beach and get to the area without beach chairs.

Nightlife

In summer there is a big tent with parties on Fridays and Saturdays directly at the beach with a shuttle service to Cuxhaven and its nightclubs (Felix, Janssens Tanzpalast).
