The beach (and water) split in kite and windsurfers area. Just the last few meters to the water is sand. The rest is grass covered with some nice shadow spending trees. Crowded on weekends.

Best is from West (sideonshore) but it's mostly from the North (pure offshore). The wind is mostly gusty. If enough wind, good conditions for beginners.

By car only (no buses). Get on the Autobahn A2 between Hannover and West Germany. Merge onto B6 via exit number 42 toward Nienburg/Neustadt A. Rbge./Berenbostel. Stay straight to go onto Bremer Strasse/B6. Continue to follow B6. Turn left onto L360. At Mardorf follow signs to the parking place 'Weisser Berg', then the surfers logo signs.

The kite has to be launched/landed in the water! Only kite in the special kite area (it's on the left side, from the buoys). From November to April the lake will be closed for water sports. No license needed, even if someone wants to charge for it.
