Weather

Summer:
Shorts, Shorty
Fall:
Normal
Winter:
Thick

Summer warm, winter cold. Since the lake is quiet shallow, the water heats up pretty fast in spring and cools down fast in fall. You can surf all year-round with a wetsuit, summer a few weeks without wetsuit possible.

Wind

Best Months:
No information
Wind Type:
Frontal
Best Direction:
N
Main Direction:
SW

North winds are the best, quiet constant. South winds work as well but are gusty since they come over a forest. Southwest is the most common wind. Works ok in East winds. Usually light winds, 3-4 Bft, so big gear is the norm.

Access
Short walk

The basin is partly in France and partly in Germany. From Strasbourg drive south on the A35. Exit at exit 7 and drive south on the N83 or D207. Before Fegersheim drive east on the L98 or Rocade Sud. Then exit that road to the south, there should be signs to Phobsheim on the D468. In Phobseim find the way to the basin or take the Rue de Moulin. Lots of parking.

Extra information

Rules
None

Very crowded launch, be careful and respect the windsurfers. No rescue available, but if you are lucky, a surfschool in about 2km distance might help you, only if there are South winds, otherwise they don't see you. In North winds there is a shallow area from which you can walk back. Ask the locals before you get on the water. Also be careful with gear in your car, thieves are always around to break into it.
