NW wind is the cleanest. Anything with East will be gusty. Can be very windy here 25+. Smaller kites for Manzanita as it usually blows 10mph stronger than the rest of the coast. NW winds accelerate at Cape Neahkahnie north of Manzanita, offering solid and often very windy conditions from Manzanita down to Nehalem Bay State Park.

Drive from Portland about 1.5 hours. From Portland drive west to the coast and get onto 101. Depending where you hit the coast drive either south or north to Manzanita. Get on the beach at the North of the city.
