Shallow at the beginning. Flat and chop, small waves. It can have very nice,no too big waves in stronger winds with onshore direction. Then you get clean waves with flat water in between. Sandy bottom. To the south is a small natural reserve, so if you can't stay upwind, walk all the way to the north and start from there and exit before the reserve.

Sandy beach, at the south end some concrete and a fence for the reserve. The beach is about 300m long and 30m wide. Further north the beaches stretches for some km. It can be very crowded in summer with sunbathers.

A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold.

Nice spot in easterly winds, which are more often in summer. Main winds come from westerly directions, but SW is sideshore. Can be from 0-9 Bft. In summer short time with thermal winds.

From Hamburg drive north on the A1. Exit at Lensahn/Dahme. Then take the L58 towards Kabelhorst/Cismar. In Cismar take the B501 towards Kellenhusen/Dahme. Exit on a small road (Strandweg) with signs to Klostersee/Kloster (not easy to find (see map), but look out for the highest trees on the water, there it is). Follow the road all the way to the water and park at the parking lot behind the dike. Walk about 200m to the water.

Kiting is not allowed here, but if you go further north to the dog beach, you will most likely not get stopped, specially if you know what you do. To the south is a natural bird reserve. Do not kite in the water in front of it and do not go on that beach. If you get downwind too far, go around it and land your kite behind it, then walk back on the dike without kite in the air.
