It depends on the wind. 4-5 Bft: you could enjoy flat water with clean small waves. 6 Bft: there is a little bit choppy water and nice waves. Over 6 Bft: it starts to be very choppy.

The beach is not as good as the space on the water. Sand with pebbles and some stones. There is not very much space but enough to launch and land. The beach is about 15-20m wide. Behind the beach is a grassy area.

A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold.

It´s hard to say how often, but about 2 days a week during the season with winds between 4 and 6 Bft. Many windy days with also very strong winds in fall. Best winds in spring and fall. Summer lighter winds, can have nice East winds. Any strength possible with depressions.

Hamburg-Kiel by train, bus or car, Kiel-Schoenberg by bus or car, Schoenberg-Hohenfelde by car bus or taxi. Follow the B502 from Kiel to Schoenberg, pass Schoenberg and continue on that road until you see signs for Hohenfelde. Then drive to the beach.
