This is a wave spot. There is also a lake where windsurf beginners go. But the spot at the sea is for kiters from upper intermediate level to pro level. The waves can get very high! A small footbridge and a slide are in the water. Kiting only in the marked kite zone. Great wave in NW winds on the west side which turn around the corner for clean waves. Here the windsurfers ride. Current with stronger NW and W wind. Best waves with NW.

The beach is big with soft sand and good for launching your kite. Take care you are far away enough from some obstacles. About 400m to the East are houses close to the beach and wave breakers. Go to shore with enough distance. Some obstacles at the beach. Windsurfers ride further west, smaller beach, but parking just behind the dune with less distance to the water.

Access
|
Short walk |
Follow the road `B207`. Leave the road at the sign `Heiligenhafen`. Follow the street until you are right in front of the water. Turn right, after ca. 300 meters turn left into a small road with water right and left to it. After another 500 meters you see a sign for the parking lot. Take the first parking lot to the right and drive to the water. The parking lot is huge and for free. Windsurfers take the parking lots further down the street.
Extra information
Specially marked kite zone (oestlicher Steinwarder). Do not kite in the swimmers zone, which is almost everywhere. Better to avoid this beach in season while the buoys are out. For beginners it is strongly recommended not to use this spot but to use the spots at the island Fehmarn (Gold etc.). Windsurfer go further west where the beach is smaller but parking just behind the trees and beach.
