Water

Type:
Shallow, Flat, Chop
Hazards:
Currents
Quality:
Crystal clear
Best Tide:
Low tide

Works well at low tide, when lagoons and flat still water appear. As the tide fills in the water gets deeper, but apart from a bit of chop this is really a wave sheltered spot. Typical Cornish blue clear water. Situated in a large estuary, if you loose your board out in the water here you may not get it back if the tide is ebbing. Be carefull of ditching your kite on an ebbing tide, failure to relaunch will mean you get sucked out to sea, past a lot of steep cliffs and unnavigable rocks - you'd be screwed.

Beach

Type:
Sand
Size:
Medium
Hazards:

Beach Users:
No information

The beach is soft sand, backed with beautiful low dunes. This is definitely an oasis of calm away from the maddening tourist crowds, so please show respect. You can ride at high tide with enough beach to land your kite.

Weather

Spring:
Normal
Summer:
Shorty
Fall:
Normal
Winter:
Thick

Colder months when the UK receives wind systems from Siberia. Because of this, if you are surfing here in winter the water and air will be about as cold as the Southwest gets - full suit and hat with boots and gloves needed for the coldest days. In summer, expect balmy air temps and a shorty wetsuit to keep the chill off.

Wind

Best Months:

Wind Type:
Frontal
Best Direction:
N, NNE, NE, NNW
Main Direction:
No information

Works on a Northerly wind, or a Northeast which seem to be a bit more prevalent in the colder months when the UK recieves wind systems from Siberia. Can be gusty since the wind has to access through a narrow rock eastuary mouth. North winds are not the prevailing wind direction for the UK, so you won't be riding at this spot too often.

Show total respect to the wildlife and beauty of this area. It is a privately owned beach. Beach BBQ's and crap like that are definitely a no go. As a kiter here, you will have less rights than a dog taking a shit on the beach (of which there are many) so a polite attitude is required so that we may continue to enjoy this wonderful spot.

Nightlife

Padstow if you want a bit of posh, Newquay if you want a bit of rough.
