Caution: Do not set up your kite in the grassy area. There are picker plants in the grass now (not sure if they are there all year round) that might puncture bladders and tear kite fabric, need to set up on the beach which is small and sometimes gets real crowded with kites. I saw one kite today get punctured and another get a tear.

Season from March to November. Year-round possible if you ride on the warmer SW winds with warm water currents. Wetsuits needed beginning and end of the year, just shorts from late spring to early fall. Warm gulf-stream ocean currents keep air and water temperatures warm nearly year-round.

The winds are gustier here. Good for downwinders to The Slick. To get to The Slick you need SW or W winds. SW is the predominant direction anyway. The beach works in these directions: SW, W, NW, N and NE. In June and July 90% wind from SW. Starts at 3pm, strongest at 7pm and lasts until sunset. In August and September the wind is not consistent. In October and November 70% wind. In December to February windy almost daily. In March to May frontals and winds from SW, NW and NE. Main directions: NE and SW.
