Grindstone Lake is a large spring feed lake. It's really deep and usually stays pretty chilly into the early part of summer. Decent wind and not very crowded.

Not any beaches. Getting onto the lake is a difficult and you'll have to do some swimming and launch from the water unless you know someone who lives on the lake.

Typical MN weather. Kinda unpredictable. Unless you're a local or on your way to Lake Superior, probably not worth a long drive. In the winter it makes for some nice kitesnowboarding though!

Average wind there I'd say is about 5-15 mph. Better bring your big kite.

How to get there

Transport
Car
Access
Short walk

From I-35 coming from the twin cities, take the Sandstone exit and turn left. Continue down that road until you pass a horse area. There you take the first right. At the next stop sign, take a left and follow it to the lake.

Just general kiting rules and right of way. Be careful of treading on personal property because the lake is pretty surrounded by homes.
