The lake is about 2km long and at the widest part 1.3 km. Since it is a lake you have flat water, which gets choppier the more wind it has. Kitesurfing has been banned from this lake.

The whole lake has a dam around it. The dam is grassy, has some sand and stones. During summer space is limited, since you are only allowed to access the beach at the surf club.

All wind directions work. Best winds in spring and autumn, frontal driven. Since the lake is 15m higher then the landscape, winds are less gusty as on other lakes, but still can be gusty. Close to the pump station the wind is the best on westerlies.

Get on A31 and exit at Geeste and follow the street (Oelwerkstr.) to Geeste. There are 4 parking lots. P1 is for surfers. To drive to this parking drive through Geeste and after Geeste you will find the parking to the right. Or get to the lake on the B70, between Lingen and Meppen. From P1 you need to walk about 250m and up the dam (15 high).

Kitesurfing is banned on this lake! You need a license to windsurf on this lake (5 Euro). Ask the locals before getting on the water. Only access to the water is at P1 and the surf club.
