Long, sandy beach. About 50-100m wide. Lots of space, even in high season. But then do not surf in the swimmers area, move further south or north. But watch the signs if kite-flying is not forbidden.

The summer temp is around 25°C, in the winter around freezing. In the summer the water is around 20°C and in winter 8°C. The weather in Holland is very variable. From March to October the temperature is pretty good. When you are lucky you can have some days that you don`t have to wear a wetsuit. But normally you definitely need a wetsuit. In the months November to February it's winter time. Only die hards go out kiting with caps and hats.

Southwest is the predominant direction. Nice winds with depressions, because there is hardly any stable wind (thermals) in summer. Fall and spring usually provides the best winds, but it can be unpredictable in storms. Winter actually has the most winds. Best wind directions: S, SW, N and NW.

Comming from the South via the A9 towards Alkmaar. From there follow signs to Egmond and later to Egmond aan Zee. Drive to the promenade. Parking for a small fee directly at the promenade.
