Flat to choppy water. Big shallow area. Tidal. Best 2-3 hours either side of high tide. Can get classic flat water wind against tides often in the early evening on an incoming tide. Kiters should avoid the windsurfers and keep clear of any boats and moorings.

Safest launching is on sandbanks before the tide is all the way in. Keep clear of road and railway line to the east side of the estuary. Be careful if launching on the grass.

Works best on North and Northwest winds. Is also ok in S, SW and W winds but will be gustier and launching on grass will be dodgy. Any wind direction with East in it is unridable.

Extra information
Excellent for beginners. Have a look at the sign at the top of the slipway for a full list of local guidelines. October to December there is an official Voluntary Zoning - keep west of the yellow buoys in the Duck Pond. It is the time when the brent Geese are breeding on the eel grass, so let nature be and keep west.
