Big tides, smaller waves than nearby Rest Bay. During the winter months the waves can get up to five or six feet and waves often refract off the harbor wall forming heavy wedges to ride. Most of the surfing is done down towards the middle of the beach but the wave here tends to be a hollow closeout 80% of the time.
