Nice big wide sandy beach facing SSW. Possibly one of the best beaches on the West Coast south of Fort William. Plenty of space.

Always wetsuit weather here. I suggest a 5/3mm. Boots are optional for warmth purposes as it is sandy with no rocks.

There are good onshore sea breezes on warm summer days. The cleanest wind is in the middle of the beach. This beach only works when the wind is between SE and SW, anything else is very gusty. Suggest you avoid it if the wind is blowing from the W through NW, N, NE or East.

How to get there

Transport
Car
Access
Short walk

Turn North from Benderloch headed for Tralee Bay. After about half a miles there is an opening on your left, under high trees saying "To beach". The track is rough and about 300metres long with a gate half way down. Drive right to end and park on the firm gravel/sand (to your right) among the wine bushes. At this point you are positioned nicely in the middle of the beach.

Some great campsites nearby. If the wind moves to due West or has any North in it, it becomes too gusty. In this case there are nearby alternative (OK) locations in Loch Creran (just northeast of Benderloch).

Nightlife

Pretty quiet part of the country - but head to the bars in Oban for a beer.
