The wind blows constantly and directly along the bay throughout the year, it goes into the channel, boosting its own intensity and it is always constant and direct, but never gusty whatever direction it blows from. The North-west wind (Maestrale/Mistral) predominates during Spring and Summer entering strongly and firmly into the bay of Punta Trettu. Thanks to the thermal wind which is produced by the peculiar morphology of this territory and by the pine forest at the back of the bay itself, the Northwest wind, either in clear or in modestly cloudy weather conditions, blows in either 5 or even 10 knots stronger than the usual Windguru and Windfinder’s forecasts. The Scirocco wind (Southeast) perfectly conveys itself from the opposite direction, passing the channel of Sant’Antioco and entering clear into the bay, benefitting from the thermal wind itself. The East wind (Levante) as well enters clear into the bay and Punta Trettu is perhaps the only spot on the southwest coast that works very well with the Levante and all the winds coming from the East. The West (Ponente) and the Southwest (Libeccio) wind also work very well from Spring to Autumn. The North wind (Tramontana) blows very strongly and cold into the bay throughout the winter season (even over 50 kn).
