Approx. 4km sand beach with the harbor of La Caletta in the North and a small village in the South with rocks you should avoid. The beach is in average 30 meters wide. Only sand without rocks, corals, shells. Nice spot, not crowded at all during spring and autumn. Quite save since the bay is so big and the whole beach is sandy.

The location has some special wind conditions. Many days we had only less than 8kts in the North and West coast of Sardinia, the La Caletta had good 12-16 knots. It seems that the valley which spans the East and West coast of Sardinia is able to increase the southerly wind to an enjoyable level. Winds coming from Southeast (Scirocco) and North winds (Mistral). With SE Scirocco La Caletta has more wind than other spots. In SanTeorodo can be nothing while La Caletta has good wind, which is stronger due to thermal winds. At around 3pm the wind turns S and SW, which is sideoffshore. The wind becomes very gusty.

Access
|
Short walk |
South of Olbia, follow signs to Posada and in Posada follow directions to La Caletta. In La Caletta try to enter the small road to the South with is close to the coast line. It is very easy to find because the bay and the beach are so big.
Extra information
From June to mid-September you cannot ride in the north part of the beach. Go to the river mouth and ride here. Supermarkets, Cafes and some good Italian restaurants can be found in La Caletta. Off season you can even camp in the parking lots which are close to the beach, but please keep the place tidy. Sardinia is the island with 1000 spots, all directions are good (you'll need a car), very windy island.
