Waves can be light chop to medium size. Very shallow for a ways out but then it drops off. In the spring and fall it's generally free from obstacles. In the summer months there are jet ski stands set up, and on hot sunny days there are a lot of beach goers, swimmers and boaters. These days aren't great for beginners.

There is a small metered parking area at the end of Akehurst Ave, which is a very close walk to the usual launch area. On nice summer weekends this lot is usually full, but there is street parking close by.
