The marina is accessible off Illinois highway 10 or county 14. The launch area is just north of the marina, controlled by the Clinton Lake Sailing Association.

Drift launch only into deep water, so only for intermediate or expert riders who can confidently get upwind. Clinton Lake is the cooling system for a nuclear power plant, so relatively warm in spring and fall. Wind direction and strength is best indicated by the station at Decatur. Other nearby stations are unreliable.
